Hey All, today I decided to do a post on ideas/events for you to attend this weekend in or near Des Moines, Iowa. Why? Because it is Wednesday, you can officially begin talking about and planning your weekend. Also, I’ve just come across a few cool events for cool causes that I would love to attend but will be unable to do to attending the Healthy Living Summit in Minneapolis this weekend. I am so excited! If I was in town this weekend here is what I’d be checking out.
Friday, September 13
Live music starts at 5:30; Yoga from 6 to 7 pm
I attended Yoga At the Glen earlier this summer, and I had a blast! Totally bummed I can’t make this. Think all the awesomeness of Yoga At the Glen- nature, live music, community and yoga of course PLUS a good cause!
The Hannah Ray Geneser Foundation is a not-for-profit founded to honor the memory of Hannah by promoting child safety awareness through public advocacy, education and legislation.

Des Moines is hosting its first Diva Dash 5k on Saturday.
The Diva Dash is partnering with Girls on the Run, which is a non-profit after-school program for girls in grades 3-8 that works to address the healthy development of a girl’s physical, emotional, mental, social and spiritual well-being through activities such as running, games and discussions. The program focuses on self-esteem, what a wonderful organization supporting our women of the next generation. Currently the Walnut Creek of YMCA is working with the Girls on the Run program.
9 a.m. Spark Barre Pilates & Yoga in Urbandale
100% of donations for this class will go to Yoga Across America or YAA. Their mission is to bring yoga to everyone, everywhere. YAA currently serves American Soldiers, Food Bank Recipients, Cancer Survivors and High School Seniors in at-risk environments among many others. Visit their site to donate to this awesome cause today!
